Dietcare is currently celebrating 31 years of helping people from all walks of life to overcome weight problems.  Founded in 1976, dietcare (formerly Vitaline) opened its first clinic in Denton, Manchester.

Norah Elizabeth Lane - founder, Managing Director and Principal Diet Adviser - has studied nutrition, dietetics, and psychology.  After resolving her own weight problem, she worked for other slimming clubs before making the decision to start Vitaline, and built up her business from the original club, as sole entrepreneur.

Within two years, Norah’s diet became so popular that an office was opened, manned by full-time staff.  Norah was opening Vitaline clinics at a steady rate and not only running clinics of her own, but also training new clinic instructors - all of whom had been her successful clients.

Since 1976, Norah’s clinics have continued to operate very successfully, showing steady growth year on year, even during periods of extreme recession.  Norah has won the prestigious ‘Women In Business’ award and ‘Fundraiser of the Year’ award for raising more than £100,000 for charity from her clinics.  In acknowledgement of Vitaline’s work helping disabled clients, it has been granted the right to use the prestigious “Positive About Disabled People” symbol on its literature.

Norah has published three successful books, and has made several appearances on national television.  She is an established radio broadcaster and conference speaker, and gives healthy-eating lectures at schools for children and their families.  Both the BBC and commercial television have made programmes featuring the success of the organisation.

Recent developments include a change of name to dietcare in order to grow the business at home and abroad through franchising.
